Northstowe Festival of Running 2022

We run, we have fun, and we support!

Northstowe 10K start – Saturday, 3rd September

Northstowe Running Festival, for the first time taking place over two days, attracted almost 500 runners of all ages and abilities to run from one mile up to the half marathon distance which was a new addition to this year’s festival.

Thirty-four running clubs were represented and we saw a lot of competitive running over the weekend, with some runners standing on the podium more than once and winning trophies as well as the prizes sponsored by Over Power Fitness, Fit Again Sports Therapy, Longstanton & Northstowe Limpers and Advanced Performance. Male, female and non-binary age group winners were also recognised – congratulations to all of them!

Our popular Northstowe Family Mile came back to support schools and it’s always a joy to watch entire families running together. All proceeds from the run are donated to four local schools: Hatton Park Primary School, The Pathfinder C of E Primary School, Northstowe Secondary College and Martin Bacon Academy. Each runner finishing the race received a unique biodegradable medal from Earth Runs that had been designed by the pupils and parents from Hatton Park Primary School <<read here>>

This year we also welcomed three new charities: Care Network Cambridgeshire, Power2Inspire and Richmond Fellowship.

Partnering charities used their packages of free entries to build teams of runners who supported them with individual fundraisers. We are very proud that we can support them. Our event helped raised £3073.81 <<read here>> and on behalf of our charities, we would like to thank all generous donors and everyone who supported them in any way.

Food, drinks and music!

Runners and spectators could enjoy a plethora of attractions and activities available at the venue as well as a truly international selection of food from the street food market. Neil Whiteside and Matt Webb from Cambridge 105 Radio created a good vibe and made sure that everyone was well warmed up for Matt Thompson’s live performance on Saturday and Park Lane Band on Sunday.

Yet again we are proud that not only we were able to attract hundreds of runners to run in Northstowe but also provide a lot of free entertainment to the residents and support local charities.

Thank you to all volunteers, partners and sponsors who made this event the success it was!

See you next year!
