Finishers’ medals revealed

Yet again we proud ourselves to present finishers’ medals that are very environmentally friendly and help us reduce the negative impact on our beautiful green planet. By using a local supplier, Zero Waste Medals, not only do we support local businesses but we can also be sure that the product we order has been made from sustainably sourced wood from here in the UK, reducing the environmental and carbon footprint impacts that would have resulted from alternative materials imported from elsewhere in the world.

Tree or discount instead

At the beginning of the year, we conducted a survey and asked how many of you would forgo the medal to receive a discount for a race entry or plant a tree instead, and some of you said you would, so the options are available during the registration process. So far, 12% choose a discount, while 14% paid the full entry and asked us to plant a tree on their behalf. Our survey is still active and you can vote here if you haven’t yet. It will be interesting to see how the numbers are changing over time.

More trees 🌳

Back in June, we announced the competition to design the medal for the Northstowe Family Mile. Thank you to all who sent us their projects. We received over 90 artworks, and we are pleased to announce the winning projects below.

The artworks will be scanned and printed onto the medals from Earth Runs. The medals are 100% biodegradable and can be planted to grow wildflowers. For each medal sold, Earth Runs also plants a tree somewhere in the world, so we will do a lot of good for our beautiful green planet.

We can’t wait to place them around your neck!
